Global PEHT hosts screening of I AM JANE DOE

Thank you to all who attended the screening of I AM JANE DOE to learn more about the epic battle that several American mothers are waging on behalf of their middle-school daughters, victims of sex trafficking on Backpage.com, the classified advertising website that for years was part of the iconic Village Voice. If you missed the movie screening, the film is available on Netflix, Itunes, Vimeo, Google Play, and Amazon.

Trafficking of American children is an invisible crime that cuts across socioeconomic and racial boundaries to destroy families and communities across the entire country. There is more we can do to support this on-going fight to end sex trafficking and human slavery. These actions are simple, require just a few clicks, and amplify the voices already engaged in this struggle

  • First, consider supporting our work by donating here on our website homepage.

  • Second, Contact George Jepsen at attorney.general@ct.gov to encourage the investigation of websites that enable the sale of children, specifically asking that Connecticut join the investigation into Backpage.com.

  • Third, visit https://www.iamjanedoefilm.com/join-us/ and click "online form" to quickly and easily send an email to your senators to encourage them to support new legislation (Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act) that would close the loophole which protects “bad actors” on the Internet that allow children to be trafficked.

Global PEHT (the Partnership to End Human Trafficking (www.globalpeht.org) was started just over a year ago when I could no longer stand by silently knowing that every day more and more women and children are being victimized and enslaved by a culture that continues to buy and sell women and children. I could no longer look my four beautiful children in the eye knowing that there are more slaves today than at any time in human history. The mission of Global PEHT is to offer adult survivors a path to recovery and economic independence by providing safe and supportive housing, medical and mental health services, job training, and opportunities for employment. Please join me as we work to end modern-day slavery.
