What We Do

At PEHT, we embrace a sustainable, long-term approach to help survivors of human trafficking by addressing their housing, employment, and educational needs.

We provide two years of free transitional housing, individualized care, comprehensive job training, and meaningful economic opportunities through The PEHT Shop. Our support is inclusive, welcoming survivors of all races, nationalities, gender identities, ages, and trafficking experiences.

Our Philosophy of Care

What sets us apart as a service organization is our use of The Sanctuary® Model, a comprehensive approach to providing trauma-informed care.

The Sanctuary® Model serves as a framework for building an organizational culture that acknowledges how trauma, adversity, and chronic stress shape individual behavior. By offering a shared language to identify and address these stressors, this model fosters an environment that supports healing and recovery.

At its core, The Sanctuary® Model is guided by the following principles:

  • Nonviolence: Promoting physical, emotional, and social safety.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Understanding and managing emotions effectively.
  • Social Learning: Valuing collaborative learning and collective growth.
  • Democracy: Encouraging shared decision-making and inclusion.
  • Open Communication: Ensuring transparency and fostering trust.
  • Social Responsibility: Nurturing accountability and compassion within the community.
  • Personal Growth and Change: Embracing transformation and resilience.

This philosophy shapes every aspect of our care, creating a foundation for meaningful, lasting impact.

“If it wasn’t for this program, I believe I wouldn’t be alive. They have opened my heart and mind to a new and better life for myself... From the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep, I always feel safe.”
