Shamere McKenzie is not only a consultant, activist, and subject matter expert on human trafficking, but a highly sought-after award-winning internationally recognized speaker and trainer.
Transforming her past adversities and lived experience with sex trafficking into an opportunity to liberate and protect others, Shamere has affected real social and political change in America and around the world.
As the Chief Executive Officer for Sun Gate Foundation, an anti-trafficking organization providing educational opportunities for survivors of human trafficking, Shamere’s passion for education and policy shines.
Shamere is also the co-chair of the victim’s services committee of the Maryland State Human Trafficking Task Force. As a former Program Director, she authored an anti-trafficking program from the ground up and oversaw an emergency residential program for adult survivors of human trafficking.
She has trained professionals from the FBI, Homeland Security, and Bureau of Diplomatic Security, to church, hotel, and airline staff on the strategies for identifying and responding to victims of human trafficking.
In 2018, Shamere responded to a call from the Ministry of Justice in her home of Jamaica where she currently serves as the first appointed Anti-Human Trafficking Ambassador for Jamaica.
Additionally, Shamere serves as the Training Manager for the National Human Trafficking Hotline, which has identified over 82,301 cases of human trafficking.
