What We Do
OUR PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
The Partnership to End Human Trafficking (PEHT) is unique as a service delivery organization because of our use of the Sanctuary Model® of Trauma-Informed Care.
The Sanctuary Model ® is a guide for creating an organizational culture that considers the way that trauma, adversity, and chronic stress influence an individual’s behavior. This model offers a shared language for naming and mitigating that stress, thereby creating an environment that is conducive to healing.

PEHT educates direct service providers (i.e., social workers, attorneys, and law enforcement professionals) and the surrounding community about the presence of human trafficking — including how to identify, prevent, and avoid it.

PEHT serves residential and community-based survivors, offering wraparound supportive services that are free of charge. Residential survivors meet with their case manager weekly (if not more often) to identify their unique goals for health, personal growth, education, and employment. Survivors and their case managers then work together to assess their progress through each phase of the residential recovery and the healing process.
PEHT also offers community-based case management services to trafficking survivors who may not be ready or able to join our residential program. All of the survivors we serve receive referrals to community-based services that are critical to their healing such as:

Education, Job Training, Legal Guidance, and Transportation Assistance
Survivors also have access to a “Survivor Assistance Fund” which covers the costs of service and supplies that are not funded or offered by existing community resources.
After completing our community based program survivors are always eligible for follow-up services with PEHT. These are offered on a case-by-case basis and might include continued access to our community referral network, participation in our short-term housing program, and/or participation in psycho-educational groups.
PEHT’s social enterprise, “The PEHT Shop,” is a unique feature of our survivor programming. Here, we offer survivors the economic opportunity that is essential for lasting personal change right alongside recovery.
Our pet product retail company currently makes and sells products that are handcrafted by individuals whose vulnerability makes them potential targets for traffickers or those who have survivor trafficking. The PEHT Shop provides survivors with paid employment, access to a bank account, financial counseling, and assistance securing an ID — and authorization to work.
PEHT also provides on-the-job training such as time management, computer skills, resume and interview prep, a savings match, and additional opportunities for external vocational training.
